Casco Bay islands ferry schedule Fall 2026

Casco Bay Lines runs the island ferries every day of the year, on schedules that change with the seasons. Each boat calls at several islands in turn, and the departure tables list every stop a boat makes after the one it leaves from. A boat turns back at the last island it calls at, so riders who board on the way out can stay aboard to Portland.

The Portland–Peaks Island ferry has its own boats and schedule.

Casco Bay islands ferry details

Long Island, Chebeague Island and Cliff Island car ferry

Casco Bay Lines carries cars and light pickup trucks to Great Diamond Island, Long Island, Chebeague Island and Cliff Island aboard the Maquoit II, by reservation only. Reservations go in order of request, and tide, weather and the schedule can keep a vehicle from sailing on the date it asks for. Casco Bay Lines advises booking as far ahead as possible.

Vehicle fares are one way, and no vehicle can make a round trip in one day. Vehicles leaving Portland must reach the terminal at least 90 minutes before departure, and vehicles leaving an island must be on the pier 30 minutes before. The Maquoit II takes no vehicle over 5,500 pounds with its cargo, or over 6 feet 6 inches tall, and nothing may ride on the roof.

Portland ferry terminal parking and directions

The island ferries leave from the Casco Bay Lines terminal at 56 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101, on the Maine State Pier. Drivers take I-295 to Exit 7 (Franklin Street), follow Franklin Street to its end and go straight across the intersection. Casco Bay Lines advises arriving about 30 minutes before departure to buy tickets.

The Casco Bay Lines terminal has no long-term parking. Its 5-minute spaces beside the building are for loading and unloading only. The nearest public parking is the municipal parking garage next to the terminal, which often fills in summer, and the ticket window hands out a map of other lots. METRO Route 8 stops at the terminal.

Casco Bay island ferry landings

Casco Bay Lines lands at one dock on each island and at Diamond Cove. Riders boarding at an island landing need no ticket, since their round-trip ticket was collected in Portland.
