The MV Solano<\/strong> is a passenger ferry<\/a> boat once belonging to the San Francisco Bay Ferry<\/a> fleet. It was retired from service in 2019 and sold to Kitsap Transit, a public transit company in Kitsap County, Washington, for $1 million in 2021. While in operation in the Bay Area it typically served the Vallejo Ferry<\/a> and Richmond Ferry<\/a> routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It has capacity for 320 passengers, 10 bikes and is wheelchair accessible. It features two passenger decks, onboard restrooms and a snack and drink bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The MV Solano was built by Dakota Creek Industries, a shipbuilding and ship repair company in Anacortes, Washington, at a cost of $11.2 million. It began ferry service in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two MTU 16V4000 M71 engines and two Hamilton 811 water jets propel the MV Solano. It can reach a top speed of 34 knots (39 miles per hour) and can travel 32.5 knots with a full load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The MV Solano is made from aluminum and measures 41.3 meters in length and has a gross tonnage of 91 tons.
