MV Cathlamet is a Issaquah class auto and passenger ferry operated by Washington State Ferries<\/a>, a child department of the Washington State Department of Transportation<\/a>. It was built in Seattle, Washington in 1981 and re-built in 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has a maximum capacity of 1,200 passengers and 124 vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cathlamet measures 328 feet in length with a beam of 78 feet 8 inches and a draft of 16 feet 6 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is equipped with two diesel powered engines that can generate a total of 5,000 horsepower and reach a service speed of 16 knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vessel is ADA compliant with accessible restrooms on both the auto and passenger decks as well as an elevator on the auto deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also equipped with a visual paging announcement system that displays announcements on a monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other amenities include a galley and vending and newspaper machines on the main passenger deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MV Cathlamet is named for the Chinook word meaning “stone”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
