The MV Cape Henlopen is a passenger ferry vessel serving the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, a ferry system operated by the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA).

The vessel was built in 1981 and was originally christened with the name “New Del” in July 1981. It was renamed to “Cape Henlopen” in 1984.

However, it is not the original Cape Henlopen. The original Cape Henlopen was sold to the Cross Sound Ferry in 1983.

Both vessels still sail under the same name, but have different, official vessel numbers.

MV Cape Henlopen measures 320 feet (98 meters) in length, has a beam of 68 feet (21 meters), a draft of 7 feet (2.1 meters), and a maximum capacity for 100 cars and 800 passengers.

The MV Cape Henlopen is powered by two diesel engines that each generate 4,000 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 16 knots.
