{"id":2263,"date":"2023-02-15T16:16:19","date_gmt":"2023-02-15T16:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:4097\/?page_id=2263"},"modified":"2023-02-16T16:02:47","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T16:02:47","slug":"mv-mary-ellen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/localhost:4097\/mv-mary-ellen\/","title":{"rendered":"MV Mary Ellen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The MV Mary Ellen is a auto and passenger <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:4097\/ferry\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1770\">ferry<\/a> vessel owned and operated by Cross Sound Ferry Services, Inc. and serving the <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:4097\/ct\/cross-sound\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2187\">Cross Sound Ferry<\/a>, a ferry route connecting New London, Connecticut and Orient Point in Long Island, New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MV Mary Ellen has capacity for 85 vehicles and 675 passengers in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is powered by Caterpillar EPA Tier 2 diesel engines and can reach a service speed of 15 knots making it one of the fastest vessels in the Cross Sound Ferry fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessel, originally named Grand Republic, was built for the Bridgeport &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:4097\/ny\/port-jefferson\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1299\">Port Jefferson Ferry<\/a> in 1983 by Offshore Shipbuilding, a now defunct ship building company in Palatka, Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cross Sound Ferry Services, Inc. acquired the boat in March 2003 and renamed it to Mary Ellen.
