Lake Champlain Transportation Company (LCT) runs two car and passenger ferries across Lake Champlain between Vermont and New York. Both LCT ferries run all year, and neither takes vehicle reservations.
LCT ferry routes on Lake Champlain
Grand Isle–Plattsburgh ferry
The Grand Isle–Plattsburgh ferry runs around the clock between Grand Isle, Vermont and Plattsburgh, New York. LCT calls it the most convenient way to connect Interstate 89 in Vermont with Interstate 87 in New York.
Charlotte–Essex ferry
The Charlotte–Essex ferry is LCT's southernmost crossing, between Charlotte, Vermont and Essex, New York. LCT can close it for a time in winter for bad ice or strong north winds.
Other Lake Champlain ferries
The Fort Ticonderoga ferry is a cable ferry across Lake Champlain between Shoreham, Vermont and Ticonderoga, New York, and it closes for the winter. LCT lists no Burlington–Port Kent crossing, and its Burlington waterfront location runs the Ferry Dock Marina.
