New London ferry terminal parking and directions

The New London ferry terminal is at 2 Ferry Street, New London, CT 06320. Drivers on I-95 South take exit 84, and drivers on I-95 North take exit 83, both marked New London Waterfront District. Both turn left onto Governor Winthrop Boulevard, cross the railroad tracks and bear right to the ferry entrance.

Drivers on I-395 South take exit 5 to Route 32. After the Coast Guard Academy, they turn left at the second light onto Governor Winthrop Boulevard.

New London's Multi-Modal Transportation Center sits at the ferry terminal, with Amtrak, Shore Line East commuter trains, Southeast Area Transit (SEAT) buses and Greyhound. The train station is a short walk from the Cross Sound Ferry property.

Orient Point ferry terminal parking and directions

The Orient Point ferry terminal is at 41270 Main Road, Orient, NY 11957, at the end of Route 25. Drivers from the west take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) east to exit 71 and turn left onto Edwards Avenue. After 3.8 miles they turn right onto Sound Avenue and follow it about 34 miles, as it becomes Route 48 and then Route 25.

Drivers from the South Fork can cross Shelter Island on the North Ferry and South Ferry, then follow Route 25 east from Greenport. Vehicles with reservations on the first morning departure from Orient Point cannot use this route.

Suffolk County Transit buses stop at the Orient Point ferry terminal and connect to the Long Island Rail Road station in Greenport, about 9 miles away.

Cross Sound Ferry recommends vehicle reservations, especially in its peak season and around holidays. Riders who buy tickets at the terminal pay full fare.

Check-in deadlines depend on the ticket:

  • Standard vehicles: 15 minutes before departure
  • Trucks, motorhomes and vehicles over 20 feet: 30 minutes before departure
  • Priority reservations: 20 minutes before departure
  • Walk-on passengers with reservations: 10 minutes before departure

Drivers without a reservation, or who arrive late, wait on standby. Cross Sound Ferry boards standby vehicles roughly in the order they arrive on the property. Only Priority Service vehicles board first and leave the boat first.
