Each Richmond–San Francisco ferry fare covers one one-way trip. Children under 5 ride free with a paying adult. Discount fares cover riders aged 65 or older, riders aged 5 to 17 and riders with Medicare cards or DMV disabled parking placards. Clipper START, RTC Clipper, Senior Clipper and Youth Clipper cards also pay the discount fare.

Richmond ferry terminal parking and directions
The Richmond ferry terminal is at 1453 Harbour Way S, Richmond, CA 94804, near the Craneway Pavilion. AC Transit Line 74 connects the Richmond ferry terminal with Richmond BART. The Line 74 stop is directly to the right of the roundabout at the terminal.
A free lot next to the Richmond ferry terminal has 362 spaces, including 15 public access spaces and 8 accessible spaces. Parking is first come, first served. The lot is unattended and has no overnight parking.
Open-air bike racks stand near the Richmond ferry terminal, and 20 secure BikeLink lockers are in the terminal area. A Gotcha bike share station is to the left of the terminal area. The Richmond ferry terminal has no public restrooms, so riders use the restrooms on the ferry.
San Francisco Ferry Building parking and directions
Richmond–San Francisco ferries board at Gate E2 of the San Francisco Ferry Building on weekdays and Gate F2 on weekends. SF Bay Ferry calls the San Francisco Ferry Building its Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal. The San Francisco Ferry Building is on the Embarcadero at Mission Street. Restrooms are inside the Ferry Building next to the terminal.
Embarcadero Station, a short walk from the San Francisco Ferry Building, connects to BART and Muni Metro. The Muni F Market & Wharves line stops at the Ferry Building. The Salesforce Transit Center, a regional bus hub, is a half-mile walk away.
Paid parking near the San Francisco Ferry Building is limited, and so is on-street parking. Bay Wheels bike share has docks in several places around the terminal. The terminal area has no bike lockers.
Richmond–San Francisco ferry tickets and boarding
Riders pay the Richmond–San Francisco ferry fare with a Clipper card, a contactless bank card or a mobile ticket from the SF Bay Ferry app. Riders tap on and tap off with the same card or device. Contactless bank cards pay adult fares only.
Mobile ticket holders activate one ticket per rider just before boarding and show the ticket to the deckhand at the gate. Bay Crossings in the San Francisco Ferry Building sells paper tickets. Riders without Clipper or the app can also buy a paper ticket on board, in a second line, after boarding ends.
SF Bay Ferry asks riders to arrive at the terminal at least 5 minutes before the scheduled departure. Clipper riders get transfer discounts on AC Transit, Muni and SolTrans. SF Bay Ferry does not sell multi-ride passes.
