NYC DOT runs a holiday schedule on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. NYC DOT adjusts the schedule during reduced visibility or severe weather.

The Whitehall ferry terminal is at 4 Whitehall Street, New York, NY 10004, on Peter Minuit Plaza at Whitehall and Water streets in Lower Manhattan. The Whitehall ferry terminal has a 19,000-square-foot waiting room, concession space and rooftop viewing decks with benches.

The New York City subway serves the Whitehall ferry terminal at all hours. The 1 train stops at South Ferry station, and only riders in the first 5 cars can exit there. The R train stops at Whitehall Street station, the 4 and 5 trains stop at Bowling Green station, and the J and Z trains stop at Broad Street station.

MTA buses M15, M15 Select Bus Service and M20 stop at the Whitehall ferry terminal. Inside the entry hall, 5 escalators, 3 wide stairways and one elevator lead to the waiting room.

St. George ferry terminal parking and directions

The St. George ferry terminal is at 1 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301, where Bay Street meets Richmond Terrace. The St. George ferry terminal has restrooms, dining options and a waiting room with large windows over the harbor.

MTA Staten Island Railway (SIR) trains run 24 hours a day between St. George station, inside the St. George ferry terminal, and Tottenville. An elevator links the St. George station platforms with the main floor and the street. MTA buses S40, S42, S44, S46, S48, S51, S52, S61, S62, S66, S74, S76 and S78 serve the St. George ferry terminal.

When the Staten Island Ferry is busiest

Weekday rush hour trips on the Staten Island Ferry are packed. NYC DOT discourages large tourist groups from riding at rush hour. The Staten Island Ferry carries almost 70,000 passengers a day.
