Anacortes–San Juan Islands ferry schedule and guide
Washington State Ferries (WSF) runs the Anacortes–San Juan Islands ferry, a car and passenger ferry from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands. The Anacortes–San Juan Islands ferry calls at Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island and Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. WSF takes vehicle reservations on the Anacortes–San Juan Islands ferry and strongly recommends them.
Ana/SJs - ADA Alert: Sealth Elevator is Temporarily Unavailable
The passenger elevator on the M/V Sealth is temporarily out of service. Technicians have been dispatched for repairs. Updates will be provided when repairs have been completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Update - Winter vehicle reservations release postponed two weeks to Nov. 10
We’re postponing the two-month vehicle reservations release for our winter sailing season (Dec. 27 through March 20, 2027). The delay is needed while we work to adjust reservation availability around upcoming terminal construction.
The new reservations release date is Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. To ensure a smooth and fair experience during this high-demand period, we will continue using a virtual waiting room during the reservations release.
Anacortes/San Juan Islands route:
Some days in February and March 2027 will not be available to book reservations for Orcas and Lopez due to construction on the vehicle transfer span at several terminals.
The two-week and two-day reservation releases will remain at 7 a.m.
Reservations are currently open for booking through December 26, 2026.
Ana/SJs - Sealth replaced the Samish as vessel #3
Update - The 90-car Salish replaced the 144-car Samish as vessel #3, temporarily downsizing vessel capacity on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route. The Samish will return to the route next month following annual inspection and maintenance.
Ana/SJs & PT/Coup - SR 536 Bridge Closure in Mount Vernon Begins Nov. 1
Beginning Sunday, Nov. 1, the SR 536 Skagit River/Division Street Bridge in Mount Vernon will close in both directions to vehicles for at least two weeks for painting and preservation work. Weather could extend the closure.
Travelers using SR 536 to go to and from the Anacortes or Coupeville ferry terminals must follow the signed detour via I-5 and SR 20. Please allow extra travel time, especially if you have a vehicle reservation. For more information, visit the WSDOT project page.
Ana/SJs: Coming in 2027: Terminal closures during transfer span construction
In early 2027, we’ll replace the major mechanical and electrical systems of the vehicle transfer span at our Anacortes, Lopez, and Orcas terminals. The transfer span is the part of the terminal dock that raises and lowers to meet the ferry to allow vehicles to drive on and off.

Orcas Island 48-hour closure, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 9–10
Lopez Island 48-hour closure, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16–17
Ferries will run on their regular schedules but will not stop at Orcas or Lopez during the closure dates. Vehicle reservations will not be available for Orcas and Lopez sailings on the days those terminals are closed. We do not expect Anacortes reservations to be impacted.

Anacortes–San Juan Islands ferry details

Anacortes ferry terminal parking and directions
The Anacortes ferry terminal is at 2100 Ferry Terminal Road, Anacortes, WA 98221, about 4 to 5 miles outside town. From I-5, drivers take exit 230 and follow SR 20 west to Anacortes. In Anacortes, drivers go north on Commercial Avenue and turn left on 12th Street, which becomes Oakes Avenue and leads to the terminal.
The WSF parking lot at the Anacortes ferry terminal charges day rates for cars and RVs. Drivers can pay or add time by phone or with the PayByPhone app. Drivers with a disabled parking placard or plate park free in this lot.
To drop off or pick up riders, drivers follow Ferry Terminal Road to the left of the vehicle tollbooths to the lot near the terminal. The Bellair Airporter shuttle runs from Sea-Tac Airport to the Anacortes ferry terminal.
The Anacortes ferry terminal has a waiting room and restrooms. Cyclists skip the vehicle line and buy tickets inside the terminal when the passenger tollbooth is open. The Anacortes ferry terminal has one bike rack, which holds 12 bikes.
Lopez Island ferry terminal location and parking
The Lopez Island ferry terminal is 4 miles from Lopez Village. Parking at the Lopez Island ferry terminal is limited, with stays of up to 72 hours.
The Lopez Island ferry terminal has a waiting room, portable toilets and one bike rack, which holds 8 bikes. The Lopez Island ferry terminal has no running water, no food service and no beach access for kayaks.
Shaw Island ferry terminal location and parking
The Shaw Island ferry terminal sits at the end of Blind Bay Road. The Shaw Island ferry terminal has limited parking, with a 12-hour limit.
The Shaw Island ferry terminal has a waiting room and restrooms. Separate lanes hold traffic for Anacortes and for the other islands. The Shaw Island ferry terminal has one bike rack, which holds 8 bikes.
Orcas Island ferry terminal location and parking
The Orcas Island ferry terminal is at 8368 Orcas Road, Orcas Island, WA 98280. The Orcas Island ferry terminal has 36 parking spaces and 16 angle spaces near the upper tollbooth. Parking there is not allowed on summer weekends. Drivers cannot park on the county road that leads to the terminal.
The Orcas Island ferry terminal has a waiting room and restrooms. Cyclists skip the vehicle line to the holding lanes on the lower dock. The Orcas Island ferry terminal has 2 bike racks, which hold 16 bikes.
