The MV New London is a auto and passenger ferry serving the Cross Sound Ferry, a ferry route connecting New London, Connecticut and Orient Point in Long Island, New York.
The vessel is powered by Cummins QSK38-M1 turbo-diesel engines and can reach a service speed of 15 knots making it one of the fastest vessels in the Cross Sound Ferry fleet.
MV New London was built in 1979 by Thames Shipyard and Repair Company, a shipbuilding and repair company in New London, Connecticut.
It underwent extensive renovations between 1992 and 2003 including the installation of a new upper passenger cabin and a 50 foot mid-body that increased vehicle capacity by 30%.
In 2015, the vessel was widened to create more cabin and vehicle space.
